The Heart Touch ProjectHeart Touch is a non-profit educational and service organization dedicated to the delivery of palliative, compassionate touch therapy to homebound or hospitalized men, women and children. For more than a decade, this unique group has been a leader in bringing "therapeutic and palliative benefits through Touch Therapy" - to vulnerable populations. Heart Touch is a national leader at integrating touch therapy within institutional healthcare settings, and has created several programs aimed at serving some of the most vulnerable patients, including a collaborative partnership with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) - where volunteers work with patients, and train their families, beginning with those in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unite (NICU), and expanding to Rehabilitation, Pain Management, and Outpatient departments at CHLA. The innovative Heart Touch programs for children, seniors, and those with chronic or communicable diseases such as HIV disease and ALS, help to reduce the impact of such difficult circumstances. The skillful deployment of proven bodywork therapies are provided by trained professionals who volunteer their time. The benefits are many. Get involved with this organization, and help them serve the hundreds of frail elderly who are often neglected when it comes to human touch, and be part of the effort to bring relief to hospitalized children and low birth weight infants. www.hearttouch.org Comments
